Currently the CEO of Code 5 Solutions, LLC, Ed has dedicated 38 years to law enforcement, serving as Chief of Police in Camden, NJ, Portsmouth, VA, and Frederick, MD. His career began in Camden, where he gained extensive experience in various operational roles, including Patrol, Tactical Force Unit / Special Operations, and SWAT. He progressed through the ranks from Police Officer to Deputy Chief before being appointed as the Chief of Police. In addition to his law enforcement duties, Ed has served as a Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator, Volunteer Firefighter, Dive Team Member, and a Combat Medic with the Army National Guard.
He holds a master's degree in administrative science and a bachelor's degree in public administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy – 207th Session.
He is a certified Firearms Instructor by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He has attended over 100 law enforcement, fire service, emergency management, and hazardous material technician training courses, equating to 1000's of hours of critical incident preparation and response training. He has been an instructor for more than 30 years and holds seven instructor certifications.
