Consulting Services and information for home security

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Our team of experienced consultants provide comprehensive security surveys, risk assessments, recommendations, and training to help keep your family and property safe.

Principles of CPTED

  1. Natural Surveillance: Design spaces to increase visibility and encourage people to observe their surroundings. This can deter criminal activity by making potential offenders feel exposed.
  2. Territorial Reinforcement: Use physical designs like fences, signage, and landscaping to create a sense of ownership and define private spaces.
  3. Natural Access Control: Guide people through spaces using design elements like pathways, gates, and lighting to reduce opportunities for crime.
  4. Maintenance: Ensure that spaces are well-maintained to signal that the area is cared for and monitored, which can deter vandalism and other crimes.

Contact Code 5 Solutions to schedule your CPTED Evaluation today.

Home Emergency Planning

Creating a home emergency plan is essential to ensure your family's safety during unexpected events. Here are some steps to help you develop a comprehensive plan:

Step 1: Discuss and Plan

  • Identify Potential Emergencies: Discuss the types of emergencies that could affect your area, such as hurricanes, floods, fires, or tornadoes.
  • Communication Plan: Establish how you will receive emergency alerts and warnings. Decide on a family communication plan, including how to contact each other if separated.
  • Meeting Places: Choose two meeting places—one right outside your home in case of a sudden emergency, and another outside your neighborhood in case you cannot return home.

Step 2: Prepare Your Emergency Kit

  • Essential Supplies: Assemble an emergency kit with food, water, medications, important documents, and other necessities for each family member.
  • Special Needs: Consider specific needs such as medical equipment, dietary requirements, and supplies for pets or service animals.
  • MAKE SURE SMOKE DETECTORS AND CARBON MONIXIDE DETECTORS ARE WORKING AND REPLACE BATTERIES EVERY SIX MONTHS!

Step 3: Evacuation Plan

  • Routes and Destinations: Plan your evacuation routes and decide where you would go, such as a hotel, the home of friends or relatives, or an evacuation shelter.
  • Practice: Conduct evacuation drills twice a year to ensure everyone knows the plan and can execute it quickly.

Step 4: Regular Updates and Practice

  • Review and Update: Regularly review and update your emergency plan to account for changes in your household or new threats.
  • Practice: Practice your plan with your family to ensure everyone is familiar with it and can act quickly in an emergency.

Additional Tips

  • Emergency Contacts: Make sure everyone has emergency contact information saved on their phones and written down.
  • Safeguard Documents: Keep critical documents and valuables in a safe, accessible place.

By following these steps, you can create a robust emergency plan that helps protect your family and home. Do you have any specific concerns or questions about your emergency plan? Contact Code 5 Solutions and we will assist you in making sure your family is safe and well prepared.
